Story of our School

Viscount Alexander Public School is named after the Field Marshal Earl Alexander of Tunis who was one of Britain’s most successful generals in World War II.  In 1946, Sir Winston Churchill made Alexander a Viscount, and as a result of his hard work, dedication, and service, Alexander was named as the Governor-General of Canada from 1946-1952.

Our school was originally built in the 1950’s with an addition that was opened in 2003.  Our staff proudly serves approximately 450 students from the Riverdale and Brookdale neighbourhoods offering both a French Immersion and a Core French program from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. Our school prides itself on academic excellence, the extra-curricular opportunities for our students, and for being a contributing member to our community.  At Viscount, we are committed to seeing each and every student succeed.  Go Cougars!
